“Ashes of Life” is the long-awaited full-length debut from Rob Coffinshaker’s UNDERGROUND FIRE. Ten powerful songs of dark rock you just don’t hear these days. It transcends time and space and takes you on a journey through the chasm of the soul.
The album was recorded in Studio Cobra, Stockholm by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, Les Big Byrd).
The LP comes in four variants:
• Standard black vinyl, 140 grams. Non-limited edition. Comes with a double-sided lyric insert and black poly-lined inner bag.
• Red transparent vinyl, 140 grams. 100 copies made. Comes with a double-sided lyric insert and black poly-lined inner bag.
• Clear vinyl, 140 grams, 100 copies made. Comes with a double-sided lyric insert and black poly-lined inner bag. SOLD OUT!
• Marbled Orange, SOLD OUT!140 grams, 200 copies made. Comes with a double-sided lyric insert and black poly-lined inner bag.

This is a great album with a wide spectrum of underground musical influences that makes for a genuine and diverse listening experience and therefore extremely thrilling to listen to. It certainly never gets repetetive or leaves you bored. It also has a wide range of sonic 80s references; nodding to Sisters of Mercy but at the same time channeling Danzig. Frankly it’s just filled to the brim with really strong songs, such as “End of the Night” (that 80’s AOR vibe and vocal melodies!) and “Summer Ends” (that tough riff and the bare drum sound!). Other favourites are “Passage” (that chorus and that choir!) and “Blood Moon Rise” (a pure gothic rock hit that should get heavy airplay!). I also very much like the feel of the album versions of the two songs that was previously released as a 7″. All in all a very solid effort musically, not to mention Rob’s fantastic vocal delivery.

Place 10 in my overall 2020 list. First I wasn’t into this Band knowing and loving the solo stuff (MMF 2014 great show + parking lot “private show”). But this music kept growing and the first time I heard the full album I know it was meant to be mine!
